📘 AFCAT GK Section · CFA04

Sports & Culture carries solid weightage in AFCAT GK. Questions are specific: exact medal colour, exact tournament name, exact record. AFCAT also tests UNESCO heritage additions and cultural milestones. Know the “first-ever” achievements precisely — a wrong medal colour or wrong opponent costs marks.

📌 AFCAT Pattern — Sports & Culture:
• Olympics: athlete + event + medal colour + historical first  |  • Cricket: tournament winner + host + key player
• Chess: Indian champions + age records  |  • UNESCO: new India heritage additions
• Sports awards: Khel Ratna + National Sports Day date  |  • Asian Games: India’s medal count

1. Paris Olympics 2024 — India Complete

🏅 India’s Medal Table — Paris 2024

  • Total: 6 medals (1 Silver + 5 Bronze). India’s 2nd best ever (after Tokyo 2020’s 7). 117 athletes across 16 sports. Host: Paris, France. Next Olympics: Los Angeles 2028.
  • Neeraj Chopra — Silver, Javelin Throw (89.45 m): Defending champion; Gold at Tokyo 2020. Silver at Paris 2024. 2nd consecutive Olympic medal in athletics for India. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won Gold (92.97 m).
  • Manu Bhaker — Bronze, 10m Air Pistol Individual: First Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal. Shot 221.7 in final.
  • Manu Bhaker + Sarabjot Singh — Bronze, 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team: Manu’s 2nd medal at Paris = First Indian woman to win 2 medals at a single Olympics.
  • Swapnil Kusale — Bronze, 50m Rifle 3 Positions: First Indian to win an Olympic medal in this specific event.

⚠ AFCAT Traps: Neeraj won Silver (not Gold) at Paris 2024 — Gold went to Arshad Nadeem (Pakistan, 92.97 m). Paris total = 6 medals; Tokyo = 7 (India’s best ever). Manu Bhaker’s “first Indian woman” record applies to 2 medals at one Olympics, not just winning an Olympic medal.
